Nongak Dancers


This postcard shows Nongak dancers with their twirling head pieces.  Nongak means farmers music.  it has its roots in shamanistic harvest rituals that gave thanks for beautiful harvests.  The headpieces are called sangmo and have long pieces of ribbons attached to them.

Gyeongbokgung Palace



This is the Gyeonokgung Palace which is one of the five grandest palaces in Seoul.  Its name translates to "palace of shining happiness".  Ut was the main place of residence of the Korean royal family till Japanese annexation in the 1910's.
