Basque Country
Happy Chinese New Year to all my Chinese friends in the postcard swapping world. I am starting off with this wonderful multiview postcard of the Basque Country. Basque Country is home of the Basque people of Spain in the western Pyrenees that spans the border between France and Spain.
The card portrays the culture and customs of the Basque people.

Comillas Pontifical University
The second of two postcards sent to me by Mario. It shows the Comillas Pontifical University in Madrid, Spain which is a private university. It is a Catholic instituition run by the Society of Jesus.
The Symbol of Madrid, Spain
This postcard shows a statue whic his the symbol of Madrid. It is sometimes translated as the Bear and the Strawberry tree. The Madroño tree (which sounds like Madrid) is not native to Madrid. And it is not a strawberry tree. The berries of the Madroño tree are red like strawberries. However they are very sweet and are really not good eaten raw (unlike strawberries), but are only good to eat when made into a jam.
The statue weighs 20 tons!!
Gracias Mario
