Tana Toraja

This postcard shows the tribal houses of of the Toraja and is located on Sumatra Island. Tongkonan house is their traditional house and the unique thing is that the body of dead family members are kept in the house in a special wood box for 3 days before the funeral.

Hammamet Tunisia

Another new country this time Tunisia.  The postcard shows Tunisia's most photographed house.  In the house's cupola is the famous cafe Sidi bou Hadid.  Hammamet is a very famous holiday resort in the north of Tunisia.

Betliar Mansion

Betliar Mansion is located in the south east of Slovakia and was built in the 15th century.  It was partially rebuilt in the 17th and 18th century.  It has a fountain and an English park.

BoaVista, Cape Verde

I was so excited when Silvia from Cape Verde agreed to swapping cards with me.  Receiving postcards from these small islands is so difficult and I appreciate it very much when I receive a card from there. Cape Verde is an island country with an archipelago of ten countries located  off the coast of West Africa. Boa Vista means "good view" in Portugese and is the easternmost island of Cape Verde and the third largest.  It is known for its, traditional music, turtles, sand dunes and beaches.

Milano

This is a view of Milan In Italy.  It is from Luca who says that he has never sent a postcard as far away as St. Lucia and he was a bit worried that it wouldn't arrive.  Well Luca I'm glad to tell you that I received it and thanks very much!

Saba, Dutch West Indies

This is another postcard from Tristan which shows the island of Saba.  Saba is a dutch Caribbean island with a land area of 13km squared.  It 's major towns and settlements are: The Bottom ( which is featured in the postcard),Windwards Side, Hell's Gate and St. Johns.

Italy

Chiara from Italy sent me three postcards and this is the first. She says that it is a small village called Pitigliomo a small village in Tuscany in Grosseto province.   The small historical centre is called the little Jerusalem.

Serbia

The first of two postcards received from Jelena out of Serbia.  It shows Skadarlija a Bohemian street .  Jelena writes that even to this day it has that spirit of old times in its restaurants. It looks like it was in the 19th century.  It still has cobblestones and its a must see place for visitors.

Prince Edward Island, Canada

The last of the four postcards received from Emma. It shows scenes from Prince Edward Island namely: the Confederation Bridge, Charlottetown Harbour and Green Gables House.

The house reminds me of the novel "Anne of Green Gables" whose characters were from Prince Edward Island.

Dusseldorf, Germany

DE- 813541

The Rathaus or Town Hall contains Dusseldorf's oldest statue.  Dating from 1711 it depicts Jan Wellem on horseback. 

The card was sent via the random system of Postcrossing by Norbert.  He writes that Dusseldorf has 600,000 citizens and is known for fashion, arts and its good beer.

Peggy's Cove, Nova Scotia

This is a private swap from Emma and this is one of three postcards she sent. It shows Peggy's Cove a small yet incredibly picturesque fishing community.

Cheshire

This card is from Ian and it shows the charms of Cheshire. Cheshire reminds me of Alice in Wonderland and the Cheshire cat with the huge grin on its face.  I wonder if all cats in Cheshire are like that lol!

Italy

These old houses are called "Trulli" and are still inhabited from since the 16th century and are a Unesco site.

Norway

This postcard was received from another private swap.  It is from Charlotte who lives in Mosjeen, Norway.  This is a photo of oyfjeuet.  The buildings she writes are part of sjegato which are from the 18th century.  Sjegato is very famous and there are loads of tourists visiting each year to look at it.

The water is so crystal clear that it reflects the image.  Wow!!
