Malta & Gozo

This is one of the most beautiful and imposing buildings in Valletta the capital of Malta according to Silvan.  The original building commenced in 1574 and was rebuilt in 1744.  It served as the British military headquarters for many years and it became the office of the Prime Minister in 1972.

Vaduz Castle

I received this postcard from Caroline out of Switzerland when she attended the 4th Swiss  meeting on the 10th September, 2011 in Vaduz.  Vaduz castle is the palace and official residence of the Prince of Liechtenstein.  The castle gave its name to the town of Vaduz, the capital of Liechtstenstein.

Castel Sant' Angelo

The Mausoleum of Hadrian, usually known as the Castel Sant'Angelo, is a towering cylindrical building in Rome, Italy. It was initially commissioned by the Roman Emperor Hadrian as a mausoleum for himself and his family. The building was later used by the popes as a fortress and castle, and is now a museum. The Castel  Sant' Angelo appeared in Dan Brown's 2000 novel Angel & Demons.

Morro Castle

My first from Cuba which I'm very grateful for.  Morro Castle is a picturesque fortress guarding the entrance of Havana bay in Havana, Cuba.  It was built in 1589 and protected the city from Spanish attacks.

Mir Castle is a World Heritage Site found in Belarus.  Thanks Olga!!

Bran Castle

It is commonly known as Dracula's Castle and is a national monument and landmark in Romania. It is one venue which is linked to the Dracula legend.  The castle is now a museum open to tourists. 

It looks quite sinister doesn't it?

Trakai Castle

Trakai Island Castle is located in Trakai, Lithuania on an island of Lake Galve.  It is a major tourist attraction in Lithuania.

Bodrum, Turkey

This shows a wonderful restaurant in Bodrum close to the harbour with the Bodrum castle in the background.  Waterfront dining under the stars in my view is very romantic. I can just picture myself there.

Bodrum is a popular holiday resort in Turkey.  There you can see the yacht harbour and above it the Bodrum castle or the medieval castle of St. Peter.

Edinburgh Castle, Scotland

I love castle cards and I think this is my first from Scotland.  It shows Edinburgh Castle.  It makes me think of days gone and the people who lived there, what they were like and maybe the battles which took place there.  If I'm ever in Scotland I think this is one place I will vosit.

Sforzesco Castle

 Sforzesco is a castle in Milan that used to be the seat and residence of the Duchy of Milan and one of the biggest citadels in Europe and now houses several of the city's museums and art collections.
